babies

within the next year there will be three new babies entering my life! [of course not my own]

- G and M are having another baby this summer [I believe July-ish]. This will make A a big sister! :c)
- K and J are having a baby in August. This is their first and I'm so ecited for them.

annnnnddd... [just found this out last night]
- my cousins D and A are having their second child in February next year! G will be a big sister! I'm soooo excited for them!

Yay for babies! :c)

?

is it bad that i want the wedding to be either here or over with?

its not that i'm dreading getting married.
heck no. i'm sooo excited! [22 days!]

but i'm tired of planning.
i'm tired of stressing.

i'm just tired.

i would like the chaos to be over so that i can relax, be married and have lots of married people fun. that and i can go on my wonderful honeymoon. :c)

*sigh*

josh and i

graduation

so my brother is graduating from high school tomorrow.
i'm super excited for him [especially because he's been having some issues with the principal lately - partially at the fault of my brother and partially at the fault of the principal].

it'll be great.
if the rain holds off, then my family, my aunt, josh and my mom's best friend will all be there watching him get his diploma [or the fake diploma you get... the real one comes in the mail when they make sure you can actually graduate].
if it doesn't hold off, then my family will watch him and my aunt and josh will be watching from overflow.
[we're hoping that it doesn't rain]

but it super weird!
my brother is graduating!
my little brother. the one who used to pick on me [still does]. the one i used to beat up [can't do that anymore... he's bigger].
my baby brother.
and he's going away to college next year.
what the heck is that all about???

when did i get old enough to have my little brother graduating and going away to school??
when did i get old enough to be getting married in 29 days???

anysoldier.com

i was randomly playing on the internet today and i found anysolider's website.
what happens is that various companies within the different branches of the military send in lists of things that they need.
then you can request their address and send them off to the people needing it.

i just think this is awesome.
i might go home and convince my family that we need to send a package over from our family.

i was thinking that people at my school might be interested, we might be able to do a drive.
but i'm not sure.
it is in canada... would they help with a drive for things for the american military?
we'll see.

i definitely want to send stuff.
i think its awesome.
it means so much the people over there to get the things.

check it out.
the link is over there..... ---->>>>>

consider helping out our military.

flags

so my brother, sister, mom and i were pretty stuck figuring out what to get my dad for father's day.
seriously. what does one get for the guy who doesn't want anything and has every tool there is? [and he doesn't wear ties to work]

so we were sitting outside in our neighbor's yard a few weeks ago and i looked over at the flag pole sitting in our yard.
now, i am the daughter of a man who used to be in the navy.
i was taught all the proper ways to treat a flag. i know how to respect the flag. i know how it should be flown.
well, that thinking got me a little upset because i looked at the flag pole and our american flag was tattered.
to fly a tattered flag does not show respect to the flag.
so it bothered me.
and then... all of the sudden... it dawned on me!
get dad a new flag for father's day!!

so we did.
we ordered him a new american flag and a new navy flag for the flag pole.

and we gave it to him yesterday [of course we folded the american flag properly - in a triangle].
and he loved it.
he almost started crying.

then i got thinking.
how much does it take for you to try when your children [and wife] give you a flag?
is it because of the flag?
is it because you have so much respect for the flag?
or because your children knew to buy you something that means so much to you?
what is it?

i also started getting sad.
i'm not sure i would be that emotional about a flag. i mean i get outraged when people treat it improperly. i want to go buy people a new one that fly tattered and torn flags. i respect the flag so much.
but i'm not sure i would cry.
and that kind of bothers me.
not 100% sure why.
but it does.

how many people out there would be so emotional at receiving a flag for a gift?
why does it seem that only the veterans would?

this weekend

i had a crazy weekend.
mom and i drove 9.5 hrs on friday, 2.5 hrs saturday morning, 2 hrs saturday night and 6 hrs on sunday.
that's a total of [*whips out calculator*] 20 hrs in a car this weekend.
holy crap.
i'm still tired.

it was an awesome [and hilarious weekend].
it was full of mishaps and genius moments.
here they are: [the genius moments that is]

- i'm driving down the high way and there's a black bag in the road [think kitchen garbage bag size]. but i can't swerve for fear of hitting any of the other cars on the 3 lane highway. so i drive into it. its empty. it'll go under my car... right? no. of course not. mom and i are looking and watching behind us. we can't figure out where it went. it didn't come out from behind the car. so i keep driving. all of the sudden i pause the music and say 'hey mom, i found the bag' - there was a wonderful flapping sound coming from outside my door. so we pull over like the smart women that we are. we head around to the drivers side of the car and the bag had gotten caught all in the tire on the front of the car. now... the rotors are hot on the car right? and plastic melts on contact with something hot... right? so mom and i are pulling the bag off of the tire when a man walks up to us. ends up that his wife was driving and volun-told him to help us [she thought our tire was flat]. we thanked them umpteen times and sent them on their way. we finished with the bag and headed bag into the car. my poor mother had to sit for 20 minutes in the car without touching anything with her hands because she had gotten brake dust all over them. it was quite funny though.

- so friday night when we get to josh's parents' house, we decided to head down to the beach. our moms were already down there so we chatted with them and walked along the beach. we got up by the break wall and found two toads. so of course [being the children we are] we picked up one of them and brought to show our moms. the damned thing thought it would be good to pee on me. so i threw it on the sand and wiped off my hands in the water. and then told josh to pick it up. of course it doesn't pee on him at all. [jerk] once we're back with our moms, we set down the toad and it starts hopping away. so i picked it up again [figuring a little toad only has a small amount of pee in it]. once i got back next to our moms... it peed on me again. so my natural reaction [again] is to throw the stupid toad on the ground. which involved me throwing toad pee all over josh's mom. thank god that woman already loves me.

- saturday [fortunately] was free of 'genius moments'

- sunday on the way home we only had one. my mom hit a bird. it kamakazied into the windshield. mom and i gasped and then just sat there until we both burst out laughing. [small backstory... my mom hit a bird on mother's day. sunday... was father's day. i'm sensing a trend]

so ends my 'genius moments' for the weekend.

i'd like to just say that i love old couples.
they make me smile.
:c)

1 month and 1 day till the wedding!!!!!

satisfying

So I am satisfying my craving right now.
No... not food.
Not anything you'd think. [Well maybe G would]

I bought books.
*sigh*
I've been dying to get some new books lately.
There is nothing like getting a new book [a new book to me can always be used and be wonderful, just so long as it is new to me].

I had a list going... well its still going... of books that I want to read.
And my honeymoon is coming up in a little over a month.
What better thing to do while Josh is sleeping on the beach than read?
Seriously. Its so relaxing to have nothing to do besides read.

So without further ado... here is the list of books.
If you have any recommendations to add to my list of books... let me know!

Just bought:
- Black Boy by Richard Wright
- The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde
- The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka
- Birds Without Wings by Louis De Bernieres
- The Idiot - Fyodor Dostoevsky

Trying to find [at a cheap price]:
- A Child Called It
- Lost Boy
- A Man Called Dave [all three by David Pelzer]
- Q&A by Vikas Swarup
- The Constant Princess by Philippa Gregory
- Stuck in Neutral by Terry Truman
- In Cold Blood by Truman Capote

Things I need to re-read:
- Catcher in the Rye
- Of Mice and Men
- A bunch of Dickens

That's the actual written list I have right now.
I know there's more I want to read and I definitely know there's more I have to read. Feel free to pass along suggestions!

shower/bachelorette

So this weekend, my aunts threw me my first family shower. It was wonderful. Josh and I got a ton of great stuff and I had an awesome time. It was nice to introduce Josh's mom, sister, sister-in-law, brother's girlfriend and friend to my family. After the shower, my cousins had a bachelorette party for me. We started at my aunt's house where we had pizza, played Scene-It and decorated tank tops [I'm modelling mine on the right. The front said "Bride To Be"]. Then we all donned our tank tops and I donned the rest of the "stuff" I had to wear [a lei, a sash and a "veil"] and headed out to the bar. My cousin's boyfriend is the bar tender there and she knows the owners so we had the run of the place. It was amazing. I had so much fun with my family and it was nice to go out and have fun with just the cousins. :c)

Needless to say, I'm exhausted this week so far.

Man. I can't believe the wedding is in 45 days!!
